Thursday is sweet

I'm happy that it's almost Friday, but I say that every week, don't I? I'm giving a presentation tomorrow for one of the top 3 companies. This is all good. I'm excited about it and how it will all go.

I've had a great week at work. Lots of good things happening. I'm looking into applying for Leadership Illinois. I was invited to the gathering this week to learn more about it. It looks like a great opportunity. Now I have to figure out if I can juggle it with my other commitments. Good things!

I called about the grad program and no one has called me back. I'm going to compose an email and send it and see what kind of response I get. I might need a few classes up front and actually, that will be better because next year will be kind of crazy.

Life is going very well. Things seem so relaxed. I guess you have to get through the hard times to appreciate when everything is going well.

Great weekend!

This has really been a great weekend. Friday night we went to the club after the 'mean 18' and had dinner and danced for hours. There was a great band called 'Spoken four'. They were awesome. 3 hours of dancing! It was awesome.

Yesterday we played in the bags tournament to benefit the Don Moyer Boys and Girls Club. Mr. That was totally awesome and he carried our team. :) We went to dinner with friends to V.Picasso, what a great restaurant.

Today we went to breakfast and generally did nothing. I did wash some windows. It was 90 today, yep, on the 10th of October so we opened the pool and I layed out for a bit. We'll really appreciate that fact that we had this nice weather when January hits.

Checking into grad school. I'm excited. My plan is to get my grad degree and then go and teach at a junior college. It looks like I won't need to take the GRE so that could be good. I stink at math. :-(

8 Steps to Success

Ed Scharlau gave a great talk at Executive Club last month. Here is what he shared...

1. Do it now - Nothing can be accomplished until you begin.
2. Organization and appearance - workspace clean and shine your shoes!
3. Be cheerful and optimistic - don't be a 'debbie downer' or a black cloud.
4. Moderation - one of the foundation stones in the life of almost every great person.
5. Say something nice to everyone you meet.
6. Good health and physical fitness - should be as important to you as anything else you do.
7. Enthusiasm - The most important step -
8. Keep Going - Keep this up....keep working on these steps of self-improvement.

This was such an excellent presentation. 8 steps to success.

What a day...

Everyday I learn something new. Yesterday it was to be appreciative of the job that I have because you just never know...I'm lucky to have such a good job in these days when people around me are losing their job. I think in my business we see this trend so much. Banks downsizing, small businesses, downsizing...massive lay offs...mergers. It's all so scary. Good people are losing their jobs. These are hard working, good people...It sucks. People I care about and respect. I'm sure these is a lesson in all of this but I guess that only time will tell. I really believe that when one door closes that another one opens..and that God never gives us more than we can handle. Sending good thoughts to all those searching for a job! :-)

I know God will not give me anything that I can't handle. I just wish that he didn't trust me so much. ~Mother Teresa

No time to do what I really love...

It shouldn't be that way, but it is. I'm too busy. It just seems that I have so much going on at work and in my personal life that I'm too busy to do some of the things that I really love. I always say that it will change but let's face it, it's not going to. Oh well, I do have fun and I have such a variety that I guess it's all okay. I feel like I'm getting to a good point at work and that's helpful.
I'm looking forward to two trips that we are planning in the next two months or so. Going to Florida and to Mexico. I'm very excited!
I need to find time to write my editorial also. I have it in my head and need to put it on paper.
Not much else is new here. I'll try to be better but we know how that goes.

Crazy...

I did a very crazy thing tonight. I applied for Grad School. I think I'm ready to take everything to the next level. I hope I can do this while still working full time at my job...even if it takes 2 or so years...

Crazy...I know. :-)

What has happened since we spoke last...

1. We had a wedding in the family.
2. It went beautifully.
3. Finished the Pillar Book
4. Finished the video
5. Coordinated with co-workers a mega successful kickoff.

WOW! Now it's time for me to get back to the art of blogging. I need to get back to my writing. It's time to focus.

Missed ya!

Gone but not forgotten... :-)
