This I know for sure...

You cannot pick your family. Thankfully I have respectful, loving children and a respectful loving husband. :)

HELP!!

I'm working on my editorial for the News-Gazette. Last night between the hours of 1:oo a.m. and 3:30 a.m. it came to me that I should write about 'Second Chances'. I think this opens up a lot of discussion and thought and that it will incorporate my passion which is the community and also day-to-day things that people give a 'Second Chance' to. :-) If you have an suggestions, I'm open to them.

What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas...

If that is the case, then this is the end of my post. But we had so much fun in Vegas and I’m dying to share what we did. (In no particular order)

1. Hoover Dam – where we were cautioned to not use the “L” word. I didn’t get it, it was leak. Also, I didn’t get a dam hat. There was only one option and it was not my look.
2. Motion Rides at the Excalibur – where I hope to work when I retire.
3. Freemont Street – Where the Little River Band played a most awesome concert.
4. Draw Poker – One of my newest fun games that I’m going to perfect before my next trip to Vegas.
5. Pooling it – It takes up part of your day when it’s 100 outside.
6. Massage, Mani & Pedi – Enough said.
7. Mon Ami Gabi – Lunch at my favorite restaurant.
8. Outlet Malls – although I didn’t spend much money, they had good options for shopping that weren’t outrageous.
9. Fireworks at Caesers Palace – They were right when they said they would be the best in the world. These were the best I have ever seen.
10. My ability to come home with money in my pocket. .

No, folks, I didn’t win. I know, most people say they did when they didn’t. I was indeed up at times but being honest, I need to factor in the losses. I did my ‘little’ part to help the economy in Vegas.

People watching is always interesting in Vegas. I think it is one of the best places that I have ever been to truly have the diversity of people in one area. And for me it particularly nice because my husband said to me on numerous occasions, ‘Have I told you I’m glad I’m married to you?’ I hear it more in Vegas than anywhere.

Anyway that is our trip in a nutshell. It was great and I can’t wait to go back. I really prefer to go when it’s hot out because there are many more options.

Is Christina home yet?

Jeez...I'm missing talking to her on the phone. It's like she fell off the face of the earth. I hope she had a lovely time in the Bahamas. Now, help me with some ideas for your birthday. :-)

It's only Tuesday. Again, it feels like Friday. I have a lot to do but I'm feeling a lot of support from my co-workers and that helps so much. We had a good meeting this morning and I'm feeling a little optimistic about things in general. Still, I'm going to miss my co-worker who is leaving.... boo.

We have a big CEO breakfast in the morning. I'm looking forward to it. I think I'm ready. Tomorrow is going to be a busy day...but productive. :-)

Two weeks from Thursday, I'm going to VEGAS BABY!! I can't wait!

Hola!

I stink at posting sometimes...might as well get used to it.

I finished my writing class tonight. I'm not sure about my final project but I finally got it down to 500 words and decided to go with it. I have a cert of completion so I guess that means that I passed. It was a fun class. I like the feedback from people who don't know me. It's much easier and I think it gave me confidence. I have subsequently taken a refresher grammar course and I should have waited. I'm a little behind. What it tells me is that I know a lot about grammar, but I still have some problem areas. I'll get it though. I'm glad I'm taking it.

One of my co-workers got a new job today. I'm not surprised. I'm happy for her, sad for us. She really is creative and I have LOVED working with her. :( Not happy about this at all. I understand her need to move on.

Not much else is new...although hubby is taking me to VEGAS BABY!! I cannot wait!! I'm getting all the stuff I need to get done before I leave so that I can have a good time.

No quote...but at least I posted. :-)

No one should be this busy...

But here we are again. I've had a busy week again. I did get some writing done but I'm a little bit behind in my writing class. It's nearly over and I'm having a hard time keeping up because of all my extra curricular activities. Work was kind of harried all week and I worked about a 14 hour day on Thursday. Interesting things are going on at work. Never a dull moment, I'll tell you.

Tomorrow we are having a cookout and I've been busy getting ready for this. All the kids are home now and it was a wonderful day! I think I'm happiest when they are all here. Julia and I have been cooking and preparing all day.

I started back on Weight Watchers last Monday. I have lost nearly 5 pounds since Monday. I'm on a mission here. I kind of let things get out of whack and I'm going to get them back into whack. Oh, and also, I'm probably going through menopause. I'm trying to become friends with it, making fun of it any time I can. I mean what else is there to do?

That's about all I have time for today. I have a few things to do before going to bed. More soon! :-)

Does our bathroom smell like coffee?

I'm in one room watching a very important first episode of the bachelorette. Mr. That sent me a message through FB asking me if the bathroom smelled like coffee...how should I know? I'm in the living room. I did say that I would go and smell the bathroom at commercial. weird. I mean even it if does, what could that possibly mean? There is clearly no coffee in the bathroom. Update: So it was just commercial and I went into the bathroom and I'm sniffing, and sniffing, and sniffing and Mr. That is in the bathroom and I say, Nope, it doesn't smell like coffee and he said that he spilled a cup this a.m. in the bathroom and BOOM all of a sudden, I smelled coffee. So yes, I guess our bathroom does smell like coffee.

I was very successful with weightwatchers today. This might not seem like much of a victory but I've been trying to go back on ww for months. I did go over by one point today but I did get 3 workout points so all is good. I have to loose a whole dress size and I don't think it's going to be easy. The first week is always a mixed bag. It's easiest to loose a few pounds the first week because of water and such. But by day three, I am really feeling the lack of food. It's all good though. I really need to loose some weight. I read in people about Jennifer Hudson who when from a 16 to a 6 and she did it on ww. That really got me motivated. Here I go!!

Very busy at work, beyond busy but I'm really trying not to bring much home. I think I do better if I leave work at work and I've been pretty successful at it.

Not much else is new. Cant' wait for the weekend when the kids come home and we have a big cookout on Sunday. :-)

Quote for the day: Whatever they grow up to be, they are still our children, and the one most important of all the things we can give to them is unconditional love. Not a love that depends on anything at all except that they are our children. Rosaleen Dickson
